Kathy, next year I am doing an EGG TREE….YOU INSPIRED ME WITH YOUR BLOG ABOUT MAKING EGG ORNAMENTS! My Cuckoo Marans just started laying deep brown beauties….now all I need are white eggers……then I will have the entire range of colors!

    • spanky12-21-11

They all are so fantastic. I am a “crazy chicken person” and plan on trying the egg ornaments too. Good Luck to everyone in the Yule Tree contest, everyone did such a wonderful decorating. I wish I had them all in my house!!!!

    • Lisa12-22-11

I never had white layers until recently, but decided to get some andalusians which lay the most adorable white eggs. But….the best are ducks, my pekins lay beautiful white eggs and Kathy inspired me to make some of them into ornaments also.

    • CL9812-22-11

Yay for backyard chicken keeping! I will be doing the egg tree next year too! Wonderful idea Kathy, and Cooper, congrats on your new eggies!

Only 4 days left for the Christmas Tree Decorating Contest. Today I received an email asking me if this contest is “real.” Yes it is real. The winner will win and we have actually added 2nd and 3rd prizes for “best decorated” b/c the trees have been so amazing. I ask you all to please be kind and well intentioned as we near the end of this contest. In my wildest dreams I never thought a Tree Contest would get this nasty. If you cannot participate with a good heart then please withdraw from the competition.

#23 Brian S’s tree rocks, who wouldn’t like a christmas tree with a (history) lesson. Love it!!

    • Kate12-21-11

Thanks Michele! Our picture shows a small section, but our tree, that my husband Brian decorated, is about 10ft tall so our homeschooled kids are getting alot of mini history lessons this season…Queen Elizabeth, Marie Antoinette, Louis XVI, Napolean and Josephine, Buckingham Palace, Tower of London, Notre Dame Cathedral, Big ben, The Eiffel Tower, St. Paul’s Cathedral, San Francisco Coit Tower, all reside on our tree with many of their history friends. Of course the people ornaments are the most popular with everyone, especially our youngest daughter who keeps ferrying them off to her doll house… Happy Christmas, Katie

  18. Amethyst12-18-11

I am completely torn between #1, #13 and #77. All three of them are my favorites for very different reasons. I LOVE the lights in #1 and how the ornaments don’t overtake the tree. I love the simplicity of #13, it is precious. And #77 has lovely colors and overall balance.

  19. Patricia B.12-18-11

#67 The Snowman Tree has my vote! That is the cutest Christmas Tree I have ever seen. So creative! What an IMAGINATION!! Good Job Erica Lenker #67!

I’m going to make one with my grandkids tomorrow. Thanks for the inspiration. Merry Christmas, Patricia

  30. Melissa12-16-11

Christmas trees are magical and to many people are filled with memories. To us, our tree is filled with almost 40 years of memories. All ornaments go on the tree no matter their condition or age. We even include ones that have worn through the years, like those my husband and I made in elementary school and now ones that our children have made. As each new Christmas arrives we are able to reflect on Christmas’ past. Each year we add to our collection, some homemade and some purchased. This year, we added a chicken and a chick to remind us of our backyard flock. If you look closely at people’s trees they can tell stories. Each night, we love to gaze upon the tree. As the lights sparkle in my children’s eyes, I find myself sharing and recalling memories that I hold in my heart with our children. To me, this is the magic of Christmas~ Melissa C. Tree #20.

  39. shelley c12-14-11

I am having an issue with the response for the votes….I’m not sure if my vote is counting…I have only had one response when I voted, saying that it had already counted, but what does that mean? There are 3 of us in this household that are voting for a friend, but I dont think their vote is being counted. How do we know if it is and we don’t want to come across as breaking the rules of the contest..Please help me..Thank you

    • cooper12-14-11

You can only vote one time per IP address per day. So if you are all voting from the same home it will only count one of your votes. One vote per day per home is the rule of thumb.

  40. Beth12-14-11

I like tree #23. You can see the ornaments in their picture, which are very pretty.

  41. tricia12-14-11

Vote for Linda W. #42! This is just one of many BEAUTIFUL trees that she has :)

They’re all beautiful… it’s so hard to choose. For the sake of cuteness, and fond memories, I especially like the Charlie Brown Christmas tree (#13)
replica. It reminds me of the one in the Christmas cartoon. Just to be sure you all understand, I AM NOT saying this out of meanness. Linda S…
the late Charles Schultz, and Charlie Brown, are indeed smiling because of your entry.

I am! And I will keep voting until Christmas! Good Luck! :)

  74. Kate12-16-11

Patricia, I agree with alot of your favorites. I am in awe of anyone who makes all thier ornaments. Our tree, (which my husband decorated because he is good with that kind of thing and I am not) is #23. If you look close you can spy Marie Antoinette, Napolean and Josephine& the carriage of Buckingham Palace. We are a homeschooling family and so we did a history themed tree this year. I will be the first to admit that may not be everyone’s “cup of tea!” We did a close up of a small part of our tree so people could recognize some of the ornaments. Queen Elizabeth is usually right by Josephine, but our 18 month old keeps ferrying her off. Happy Christmas!

  75. Kim Rocha12-16-11

I have had so much fun looking at all the trees too…
My tree is not as nice as any of these trees either but it is special to me because the ornaments all mean something to me and I put them on with love… so, maybe my tree is not contest-worthy but its definitely worthy of staying up and I am sure yours is too!

  76. Erica Lenker12-16-11

Hi Patricia, Thank you so much for mentioning my #67 tree. I made it in honor of my 4 year old special needs little boy. Its just his size and he loves it. :) Blessings!!

  77. Erica Lenker12-16-11

Kathy! Thanks so much for visiting my Stay Beautiful Within page on facebook and for ALL your inspiration you have shared with your lovely tree. I have never seen someone love their chickens so much! I am so impressed at how much you recycle everything that goes into the care of your chickens. I can’t wait till my chickens start to lay in the spring again. I’m going to start decorating their eggs too! Sharing the circle of inspiration…. touching lives…. touching hearts…. Blessings! ~Stay Beautiful Within, Erica~

  78. mary tucker12-17-11

I voted for #35 because the tree is actually decorated with real eggs and they are beautiful

  79. Patricia Adele12-17-11
